You love me.......you really love me. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my fans around the world. You guys are the best and have been there for me from the very beginning.
Okay, let me explain why I'm gushing with love. It all started with a email alert from a comment from my Thic friend wanting an update on my life and the madness involved.
Super big shot out to Thicky....baby, you're the best, thanks for thinking of me!!!
He was thinking about me, as all of my imaginary friends do and wanted an update on the crapola I was going through. Well folks, when the sh** hits the fan, it doesn't make a little splatter.
Marriage: Been working on the whole communication thing. Who knew my dear Huz couldn't read my mind and actually had opinions of his own. Yeah, I know, I sit in amazement still too. We're at the point of, when it's good, it's good but when it's bad it's really bad. We celebrate another anniversary July 31st and I'm not sure if we're celebrating or just breathing a sigh of relief because we haven't killed or divorced each other this year.
I'm still a slave to the Apple( lovin' my Ipod), but have lost some motivation after losing all of my tunes when the old computer died and went to electronics heaven. Wait, some of the things & songs might have kept my old hardrive from getting into heaven. So maybe, it went to electronic hell....who knows. That sucks big time....Apple needs to explain SLOWLY and multiple times, that you will loose your tunes & flicks if not backed up regularly. Super big sad face!!!
The kids have been out of school since early June. The Drama Princess did not pass the dreaded FCAT test. That means she was retained into the third grade. Sucks big time. I took it more personally and was more hurt that she was. I felt like I failed as a teacher and parent. I don't know. She has to go to summer school(to retake the damn test and maybe pass) despite us prepaying for this super cool, and mad expensive camp for her and The Professor.
CAN YOU SAY NON REFUNDABLE & PISSED OFF!!!!!!
The Professor: He passed the FCAT and third grade with 2 B's away from being a straight A student all school year. He is loving summer camp and the freedom of going by himself without the Drama Princess hovering near by to crush any amount of fun had.
Family Front: The Huz's grandmother had a couple of strokes this summer. She lived a full life and was blessed with 10 children, 23 grand children and 46 great grandchildren. She eventually passed away. That was super hard on all of us especially my husband. He flew home to be with his mom and family during the final preparations and for the funeral.
Job Front: The Huz was laid off from his school. He and 200 other teachers were shafted and given "non reappointment" letters from the local school board. Because he was not yet tenured, he also can not be guaranteed a job in the fall. He has been doing a little hustling on the side and making dough but when August rolls around we gotta do something full time. He has been thinking about teaching at a private christian school but there are many factors and adjustments that would be made including a pay cut.
As for me, we are trying to appeal to the private school as a package deal and want for them to hire me as well. I have my DCF certification and could use the experience for my resume. Not to mention I would love the chance to be back in the classroom full time. I was never given the opportunity to be in the classroom with the school board because I lack a degree. I'M WORKING ON IT, SLOWLY BUT STILL DILIGENTLY WORKING!!
We have been to our local unemployment office and a couple of job fairs and nothing has panned out for us. We're still hope full for our future but hate the waiting.
In a nutshell that has been our summer. There's not much else going on. I truly have valued this summer. The time home with the entire family has given me a new appreciation for my blessings. We have been able to travel a little and enjoy the company of each other. Though my family causes me the most grief, all the time, I still love them all.

Big Girl Panties
Ladies & gentlemen,
I realize the past few post here have been quite negative, to say the least. But, I gotta tell you something.....adulthood, parenting & marriage is harder than it looks. No, really, I mean it.
So I did what most other people do when they are down in the dumps...I called my best friend.
I called her today and she told me that she did not want to hear any of my crap todayI told her I was gonna talk mean about her on my blog. She laughed....
Me: I need to vent, can I have a venting day.
Trina: No, I'm at work and besides you owe me, it's my turn to vent.
Me: Pleasssssseeeeeee.....
Trina: No, I can't give you the support you need today, besides, you vented the last few times, when do I get a chance.
Me: I'll be your best friend.....
Trina: Nope....no thanks. Stop begging, you sound sooo sorry.
Me: That's not nice...
Trina: Not meant to be. What are you wearing?
Me: A big girl outfit, why....
Trina: Look, I gotta go in a few to get my ass chewed by my supervisor. I need for you to pick your self up, go to your room and change underwear.
Me: Change underwear????? WTF... I'm already dressed.
Trina: I know, just do as I say. Pick out your favorite big girl panties, you know the ones that make you giggle like you know a secret no one else knows, strut your stuff in the mirror and see if you don't feel better. I gotta go.....kiss the kids for me, I'll call you tomorrow. Love you bunches..
Me: Change underwear???? WTF???
Trina: DO IT NOW!!!

Unemployment Hell # 2
Today was a not so good day.....
Last week I interviewed for a super fabolous job. I just knew I was getting it. The hours & days were perfect. The pay was $14/hour. I would still be at home at a decent hour to handle the kids in the afternoons. Kinda close to home. I get government holidays off because it is a county job (which line up with school closings too.) At the close of the interview, one of the two ladies interviewing me kinda gave me the notion that I would be hearing from them soon.
I heard from them all right......they sent me a lovely rejection letter (addressed to another lady on the inside). Another thanks but no thanks type of letter.
I mean really people.....
I also saw on the Today show this clip with Tyra Banks saying that people were discriminated on because of their first name and assumed things about people based on prejudices.
' scrolling="no" frameborder="0" 20width="425" 20src="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22425001/vp/23234982#23234982">'>this clip,
What comes to mind when you hear the first name SHANEKA??
Be honest!!!!

Clock Gobblers
Since being unemployed, I have found various ways to gobble the clock (waste time). Most of them involve all of my hobbies; crafting, photography, decorating. Here are some of my favorites:
Cut Out & Keep It--This is awesome for folks that like to "repurpose" trash lying around the house. There are some great tutorials in all kinds of catorgories.
Travel IQ Challenge--I am hooked on this game. You have seconds to locate different spots in the world. High scores are based on speed and how close (in miles) your guess is to the destination. The Professor loves this game and I'm trying to beat his high score.
DIYPhotography.net--This site gives great tutorials on how to play with your cameras and photo editing software.
Microsoft Encarta Quiz Page--I am the best at these quizzes. My brain is a storage of random facts and I do really good at these quizzes.
Instructables--This is a website full of people just like me...with TOO MUCH time on their hands. They have used this time to create some of the oddest things, food, art, crafts, home.
That's enough for now, I'll post more clock gobblers another day.
BTW, the job search is still looking dismal. Thanks for the encouraging words.

Plan Derailed...
I started the new year with very positive optimism, really I did. I had a plan in place...but things sometimes don't go as planned. I made the declaration that I was going to seriously start looking for work, and I did. I had a plan....to get a job by the end of January
My plan included getting the paper on Sunday, highlighting all the possible ads to apply to . I color coded the ads---pink for faxed resume, green for emailed resume, blue for online application, yellow for in person application. All positions that looked really appealing, got stars.
On Monday, I would get the family situated in the morning by 7am and start "going to work".
I would go through my list of ads and respond. I even got showered & dressed the part!!!
On Tuesday, I would call the companies to make sure they recieved my resume/application and try to get a name of the Human Resources person to follow up with later in the week.
On Wednsday, I would search our local Pennysaver employment ads. I color coded then--pink for faxed resume, green for emailed resume, blue for online application, yellow for in person application. All positions that looked really appealing, got stars.
It's hard to get the return phone call or automated email response stating that the position was filled by some other slump. I kinda take it personally and get discouraged quickly. I have prayed and prayed for some breakthrough and still to no avail.
I know, I know, maybe GOD has something mind blowing in store for me and is just waiting on me to be patient and put trust in HIM. This becomes increasingly hard as the bill collectors continue to call, daily, nightly, hourly.
I know that I needed to plan for delays or bumps in my plan. But right now I'm just tired......

Sometimes Life Sucks....
I started this post off soooo negatively because sometimes it really does suck, life that is. Today, started off like every Monday in my eternal quest for gainful employment. I dropped The Huz off at the carpool at the ungodly hour of 5AM and saw The Professor & Drama Princess off to school. All of this was done by 7AM. I skipped making coffee to hurry out the door.
Thinking I was getting the jump on all other unemployed cohabitants of America, at the early hour, I set off with my local Sunday classifieds under my arm, all circled the night before, to job search, only to be met by at least 75 other slumps at my Local Unemployment Office.
Defeat before my first cup of coffee………
In my mind, I just knew that all of these people, lined up in the brisk morning air, had the SAME exact ads circled on their copy of the Sunday classifieds. But trying to stay encouraged I shook the negativity off. With freshly copied resumes’ in hand, I got in line, FUMING!!!!! Impatiently shifting my weight from foot to foot, in the most uncomfortable shoes I own, I waited my turn to use the fax machine. I overheard Slump # 63 say , “I shoulda brought a lawn chair and a cooler full of beer”.
F***!!!!!!!!!!
I actually showered & changed for this……..maybe I shoulda stayed in bed!!!!!
